Why choose this beach
El Cristo is a compact west-facing cove beside Estepona marina. Its curved shape and generally calmer character make it one of the coast's most useful beaches for families with young children. The tradeoff is space: the same shelter and convenience that make it attractive also make it fill quickly.
Best time to visit
June or September; before 10:00 on summer weekends.
Morning
Calmest and easiest for families to settle near the water.
Midday
The small cove becomes crowded and parking is difficult.
Evening
Its west-facing position can make late afternoon pleasant after families leave.
Access
Access is by road or on foot from Estepona marina. Parking is limited relative to summer demand.
Local tip
Use the first part of the morning for swimming and leave before the cove reaches its busiest period.
Before you go
Small capacity, intense summer demand and limited parking; sheltered does not mean risk-free.
